General information
- In patients on long-term hemodialysis, β2-microglobulin can aggregate into amyloid fibers that deposit in joint spaces, a disease, known as dialysis-related amyloidosis.[1] The normal value of β2 microglobulin in the blood is 0.70-1.80 mcg/mL. [3] B2M serum levels can be used as a marker for early diagnosis of cytomegalovirus infection. [4] beta 2-microglobulin (B2M) serum levels are useful in the early detection of post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD) [5] B2M is a predictor of renal function [3]
